The Netherlands Water Partnership International Institute for Communication and Development (NWPIICD) is an independent body set up by the Dutch private a non-profit foundation that specialises in information and public sectors in the Netherlands to act communication technology (ICT) as a national coordination and information centre tool for water-related issues abroad. The principal aims of the NWP are to harmonise the activities and initiatives of the Dutch water sector abroad and to promote Dutch expertise in water worldwidedevelopment.
The NWP is the channel through which government bodiesIICD creates practical and sustainable solutions using both modern media (such as computers, NGOsInternet, knowledge institutes email and multimedia) and private organisations in traditional media (such as radio and television) to connect people and enable them to benefit from ICT, thereby contributing to the water sector share information on their activities and servicesMillenium Development Goals.
The NWP has 162 members: 86 Together with partners from the public, private and non-profit sector companies, 28 public authoritiesIICD puts knowledge, innovation and finance to work. Currently, IICD is active in Bolivia, Burkina Faso, Ecuador, Ghana, Jamaica, Mali, Tanzania, Uganda and Zambia in the sectors education, environment, 19 knowledge institutesgovernance, 20 NGOs health and 9 water supply companieslivelihoods (agriculture).
