More information — AquaFund is a fast-disbursing fund created to finance a variety of interventions that support the implementation of IDB’s Water and Sanitation Initiative and contribute to the achievement of the water-related Millennium Development Goals in IDB borrowing member countries.

AquaFund resources can be used for technical assistance, project preparation, feasibility studies, demonstration projects, partnerships, training, knowledge dissemination and public awareness campaigns. AquaFund will also finance pilot programs and investment projects.

Criteria — To access AquaFund resources a proposal must: 1) be consistent with the objectives of the IDB’s Water and Sanitation Initiative; 2) be consistent with the strategic plans for the sector in the country in which it is going to be implemented, 3) a non-objection letter from the beneficiary government; 4) have high development impact in the sector; 5) be institutionally and environmentally sustainable; 6) be in coordination with other IDB or other external donors funds and initiatives.
