RAIN (Rainwater Harvesting Implementation Network) is an international network with the aim to increase access to water for vulnerable sections of society in developing countries - women and children in particular - by collecting and storing rainwater in water tanks and wells.

Started in December 2003, RAIN focuses on field implementation of small-scale rainwater harvesting projects, capacity building of local organisations and knowledge exchange on a global scale. Rainwater harvesting offers a high-potential solution to supplying safe drinking water, thereby empowering people to improve their livelihoods by providing them with more security and new choices.

RAIN supports the construction of rainwater harvesting systems at household and communal level (public spaces such as schools, community centres and health centres). In the future, RAIN intends to broaden its scope to include rainwater harvesting for income generating activities such as (drip) agriculture and livestock keeping. Moreover, rainwater is being used to improve sanitation conditions.
