Created in 2002, the Aqua For All Foundation intends to create a link between development world water and sanitation projects, sponsoring and socially responsible entrepreneurship. By acting as a mediator between all parties involved, Aqua4All wants to tackle the scarcity of drinking water and sanitary facilities in developing countries in a structural way.

Aqua for All supports projects with finances and expertise offered by the Dutch public and privatewater sector. Aqua for All projects aim at improved access to safe drinking water and/or improved adequate sanitation facilities based on the integrated water management approach. Aqua for All focuses exclusively on rural and peri-urban water and sanitation projects in undisclosed or unpiped areas with no household connections or sewerage and/or controlled wastewater discharge/treatment.

Aqua4All acts as a negotiator to establish sustainable partnerships between Dutch water partners and the local beneficiaries. Partnerships are established with Unicef, Novib, ICCO, Cordaid, Amref, Dutch Women Council (NVR), Protos, Water Aid and Simavi, whose programs on education, health, sanitation and water management are supported on the water related parts.

In order to achieve their goals, the foundation strongly promotes the development of promising low cost technologies on water exploration, treatment and storage. A non-conventional approach, based on local available resources, capacity and geographically limiting conditions, offers affordable and sustainable technology. This creates opportunities for local business development, both in manufacturing, assemblage, operation and in distribution and service.

Main activities

  • International rural and peri-urban water and sanitation project funding
